Dear Parents, Students, and Friends,
I am so excited to be teaching first grade at KCSMA for the 2016-2017 school year! I have had quite a journey in my teaching career. I graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2006 with a B.S. in Early Childhood (PreK-5) Education. I began my teaching career as a kindergarten teacher in Hinesville, GA. I taught kindergarten for a year and a half before deciding to take time off to start a family with my husband, Cody, and pursue my Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Reading and Literacy. After earning my Master's degree, I returned to teaching in 2011 in North Carolina, where I taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. In 2013, my family and I moved to Florida, and I taught second grade for the 2013/2014 school year. In June 2014, my husband, two children, and I relocated back to Georgia. I am so glad that my journey led me to teach at KCSMA in the 2014/2015 school year. Now, I am returning this school year for my third year at KCSMA. I have a passion for teaching young students. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach in Cobb County, which is where I attended school.
I am a mother to two children, Caleb and Chloe, and I am expecting a little boy around Halloween this year. My son, Caleb, will be a third grader this school year, and my daughter, Chloe, will be a second grader. My hobbies include reading, working out in the gym (I love yoga, running, and weight lifting), taking long walks or hikes, and staying "on-the-go" with my family. I also enjoy teaching first aid and CPR classes to adults on the weekends. My husband and I also have our own AdvoCare health and wellness company. I consider myself an active, lifelong learner, and I try to share my passion for learning with my students.
